Don will work to reduce gang violence by supporting gang enforcement grant programs, which provide state and federal funds to local sheriff's and municipal police departments so they can monitor gang activity, crack down on drug dealing and violent crime, and assist cities by funding afterschool programs to keep children off the streets and out of gangs. As a practicing attorney, Don works on a daily basis with our local and state judicial system, and realizes that to effectively fight crime and gang violence we need to properly fund our judicial system.
The growing threat of gang violence is penetrating our neighborhoods and communities.
Don Vaughan knows we must fight to take back our neighborhoods and communities threatened by gang violence. Don supports the recent Senate efforts in tackling gang violence.
Don will work with local law enforcement to find state grant funds to help police hire additional officers to crack down on gang violence.
We must be tough on gang violence while at the same time putting resources toward helping at-risk youth avoid the temptations of gang life. That starts here at home, in our cities and towns, and we must make sure there are programs to keep our children off the street and out of trouble.
When Don is elected Senator, he will:
Fight the root causes of gang activity, and bring together community groups, religious organizations, and law enforcement to tackle the problem.
Help local law enforcement fight gang violence by providing resources and grants to track gang activities and crack down on gang related criminal activity.
